Government’s action plan a bold start

Today, the Government released its action plan for the Hauraki Gulf: Revitalising the Gulf: Government Action on the Sea Change Plan. The long-awaited government response to Sea Change was welcomed by The Noises Trust and its project partners Auckland Museum and the University of Auckland. The Government’s plan accurately acknowledges the community-led project that is currently underway at The Noises, but the spirit of cooperation that was behind Sea Change is still needed to implement the Government’s plan. There is a lot of work to be done to put greater definition around the government’s proposals and it must be done with haste, to arrest the continuing decline. But, today it’s important to congratulate the Government on this bold start and say thank you for acknowledging The Noises kaupapa.
